Introducing the Angola Blog

Posted on Aug 26, 2009 by Armando Rodriguez

Hello everybody!

After months of preparation, we finally will be leaving to Angola this Friday, August 28.  It will be a long, long flight! We are leaving from Orlando to Washington, and then embark on an 18-hour flight to South Africa. After staying overnight in Johannesburg, we will leave Sunday morning for the final leg of the flight, to Luanda, Angola.

That was the good news. The bad news is that we still don’t have our work visas. The Bishop in East Angola, Rev. Jose Quipungo, asked us to travel with tourist visas and procure the permanent visas once we are there. Please, pray for us so that we can obtain the visas promptly. We need to be ASAP at our final destination, the Quessua Seminary near Malange (8 hours from Luanda by road) so that we can begin teaching and preparing the way for Florida UM mission teams.

You can write comments at the bottom, or e-mail us at arodriguezjr@flumc.org for Armando, irodriguez@flumc.org for Icel, and am_bosch@hotmail.com for Amanda.  We want to stay in touch with you!

Many thanks for your prayers and offerings! We can’t wait to be there and serve God to the best of our abilities. For the glory of God, let us embark together in this adventure of faith.

In the love of Jesus,

Icel, Amanda, and Armando.

DIOS LES BENDIGA MUY RICAMENTE. HE ESTADO ORANDO POR USTEDES, ESPECIALMENTE EL DIA 6 DE AGOSTO QUE FUE LA FECHA DE PARTIDA QUE ME DIO ICEL EN LA CONFERENCIA. AHORA LLEVARE VUESTRO MINISTERIO A NUESTRO CULTO SEMANAL DE ORACION, Y LO AÑADIREMOS A NUESTRAS ORACIONES "MISIONERAS", LAS CUALES SON AHORA LOS ORFELINATOS DE REPUBLICA DOMINICANA Y LOS MISIONEROS DE DOS IGLESIAS EN CUBA. LA GRACIA DEL SEÑOR SEA ABUNDANTE SOBRE USTEDES... Y SUS FAMILIAS. AMEN.

I too pray God's blessings on you all as you go out in service to him. I am also excited to be in dialogue with a young woman who will be beginning seminary next fall. She had hoped to spend this year in mission with YWAM, but feels that is not the best stewardship of her money. I have urged her to consider coming to serve with you all there in Angola once you are ready to receive people from our Conference. So I am hopeful that your visas work out, and that you can soon do the work you are called to do. Peace.
